Activities and subactivities of the project:
Aquisition of equipments and intangible assets related to R&D laboratories (for the activities 1-8): is the main activity of the project and includes equipping 8 European interest laboratories in quality control, food safety and security.
Basically, the activities does not differ, but the time period for legal proceedings related to the acquisition and delivery time differ. For example, in order to equip the laboratory for sample preparation, the difficulties are given by the myriad amount of small equipments, where as the thermal analysis laboratory is bound to have a difficulty consisting in time-consuming procedures, due to the high price of equipment, implementation of the specifications, because it is composed from three major components: ATD-TG, MS and FTIR with a high delivery time.
To optimize the time and to ensure the optimum conditions for equipement aquisitions, the management team has in their structure an aquisition responsable with expertise in aquisition legislation and related procedures, and a number of researchers/teachers with experience in instrumental analysis who are able to identify the optimum specifications for equipments to be purchased. It should be noted that there are specialists which have a number of conducted courses that enables them to perform analysis techniques and also, to provide servicing and maintenance.
In case of aquisition of large equipment, the employing will be solely considering their performance. In case of large interconnected equipment (eg GC-MS or LC-MS), the choice of equipment will be taking account of the overall performances. The estimated value of this activity is ~ 56.66 million RON, which is ~ 95.13% of the total project value. It can thus be inferred that the project has more than 95% of its resources allocated to strenghtening of the RD capability of Politehnica University of Bucharest.
